This past week I traveled to the Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas, Texas it was once again a joy to be called a Southern Baptist. For the first time in years I took messengers with me from our church. It was different to say the least and perhaps a little more exciting having five others with me who have never participated in the convention. Our church members were able to see that we are a part of a much greater body of believers than just our church.
Highlights of our trip included the election of officers including Dr. J.D. Greerar as President and an African American and a Hispanic as 1st & 2nd Vice-Presidents. The two secretaries elected were both from Missouri, Dr. John Yeats and my good friend Don Currence. We also witnessed 79 new missionaries commissioned from the International Mission Board who will be going to the ends of the earth taking the good news of the gospel. Hearing Vice-President Mike Pence share his testimony and commend Southern Baptists for their relief efforts as well as taking the message of the gospel to all fifty states and around the world. What a joy to know that we share a common cause and mission with 37,000 churches and over 15 million believers. I'm indeed thankful to be a Southern Baptist Pastor. Yours for Kingdom Growth, Pastor Don Satterwhite
