It seems like our country has never been more divided than it is today. While some are happy with the election of Donald J. Trump as our president there seem to be almost as many who are unhappy. That's the way it goes with politics. The fact remains that we as Christians are commanded to pray for all who are in authority. (I Timothy 2:1-4)
Division is a natural part of life. Jesus said that families will be divided over their faith. (John 7:43, 9:16, & 10:12) Division happens because of the gospel (Matthew10:34-38; Luke 12:5ff; Acts 14:4) Jesus doesn't want division in His body and his bride, the church. (I Corinthians 1:10,13;11:18;12:25;Titus 3:10;Jude 19) Although Christ is our peace (individually), purchased peace, has made peace possible, and offers peace; don't expect peace until the Prince of Peace returns. There will be no overall political, social or national peace. What we can do is to promote peace in our own lives and ministries. It is possible for brothers and sisters in the family of God to get along. The important thing is that we should desire His will, not our own agenda. All that we do in and through Calvary Baptist Church needs to be done to glorify Him. Will you make a commitment to be an instrument of peace in the Body of Christ?
