Youth & Family Ministry Corner
Fall is coming and with it comes the cooler weather, the beautiful changing of the leaves on the trees and some great opportunities to invite others to come to church. We had a great Sunday celebration September 19th with over 120 people in church and almost 100 staying for the wonderful chicken fried dinner. Covid19 has been tough on us all but our God is tougher and we will succeed in the end; so, lets “not grow weary in doing good; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (2 Thessalonians 3:13, Galatians 6:9). We have had a few new faces in the youth group in the past few weeks, I want to thank the young people for their willingness to invite their friends to come and be part of the Calvary CREW. AWANA is growing a little at a time; thanks to the faithfulness of the teachers and staff who are there each week. If you know of any children ages Pre-K thru 5th grade invite them to AWANA on Wednesday Nights (6 – 7:15 pm). I met with the principal Sara Pannier and social worker Kyra Brar from Horace Mann a couple of weeks ago. We have a great opportunity to be a blessing to the elementary school which God has placed on our door step. They have a food pantry set up next to their book depository in front of the gym, if any of you would like to help by donating food to it that would be greatly appreciated. Another need is for under cloths such as socks, underpants (boys and girls) winter coats, hats, gloves and other items to help with those who do not have these items, or have lost them in a fire. I will be placing a tote by the back door so you can drop these items off as God leads you. I would also ask for you to pray for the Horace Mann school, its teachers, staff and students. God has given us an opportunity to be an influence and possible reach many who do not know Jesus Christ as their savior. There are other things we are looking at from suppling the teachers with a meal or two on their in-service days, to writing notes of encouragement, to providing after school tutoring for students and mentorship. There are many ways God can use us we must be open and ready to serve Him on this great mission field.
