Lord Open My I Eyes That I My See – Psalm 119.17-24

When was the last time you asked someone to show you the inner working of something? Anything? When I was in high school I loved computer programing, I always wanted to know how to do something better. There always had to be another way, a better way then whatever the teacher showed or the book gave.
When you read the Word of God you have a special gift—the Holy Spirit—One of His tasks is to help you better understand God’s Word. But, you must first ask Him to reveal those truths to you.
The Psalmist understood this and asked God to “open his eyes that he might see the wondrous things out of the Law (God’s Word)” (vs.18).  You too, can ask the Holy Spirit to show you the wonders of God’s Word so you can “live by them and keep them” (vs.17).
You need to remember you are just a stranger in this world. It is not your home. Your home is in Heaven with Jesus Christ. Therefore, you need God’s Word to be your guiding light in this dark place. Understand judgement from God is part of what will take place in this fallen world. You need to be vigilant to obey all that God has commanded you. When you fail, come seek His face, He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you of all unrighteousness (1 John 1.9).
People will always make fun of what you do. They will not understand why you take such a stance on the Word of God. But you must remember, God’s word is always right and true. Those who oppose Him will be judged in the end.
You must be above reproach and contempt. In other words stand high above the mess, do not give anyone a reason to accuse you of any wrong.  You can do this by seeing what God has done and following in His footsteps.
Remember yesterday’s devotional ‘To Hide God’s Word In Your Heart’ you need to meditate on His Word when trouble comes. Let it be your strength and delight and counsel.

Application

      1. When trouble comes where do you turn? God’s Word says, “When I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil for Thou are with Me, Thy Rod and Staff they comfort me” (Ps. 23.4) Is it scripture or something
else you turn to in times of trouble? Take some time and meditate on God’s Word, asking God to help you through
         your difficult time.
     2. Are you asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of the word of God to you when you read Scripture? Pray today for
the Holy Spirit to begin to “Open your eyes to the truth of the Word of God.”
     3. Have you given time to studying The Word of God? Today is a great day to begin. Select a book of the Bible, ask the
Holy Spirit to open your eyes and journal what He says to you.

Prayer

Lord, I ask you to open my eyes to the truth of your Holy Word today. Help me to see all that it holds. I thank you for the Holy Spirit that is living in side of me, may He revel all of Your truths to me. May I desire to know, may I seek out with all my heart all that Your Word has to offer. Lord may the Holy Spirit begin a work in me that will not stop until You call me home. Lord I thank You for Your grace and mercy, in Jesus Christ name Amen.
